In the words of Peter Ackroyd, “London goes beyond any boundary or convention. It contains every wish or word ever spoken, every action or gesture ever made, every harsh or noble statement ever expressed. It is illimitable. It is Infinite London.” You will see The London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower of London, The Houses of Parliament, and Tower Bridge, before checking into your hotel in the afternoon. In the evening, share a welcome dinner and receive an overview of the journey. Dinner and overnight in London. (D)

Wednesday, May 12
London
Full day of sightseeing, starting with a visit to Westminster Abbey. Since 1066, it has been the location of the coronations of 40 English and British monarchs and a burial site for 18 English, Scottish, and British monarchs. Later, visit John Wesley’s Chapel (arguably the most influential Protestant leader of the English-speaking world since the Reformation, who built upon the Reformation's emphasis on grace and faith), Wesley’s home, and the Museum of Methodism. Across the road, discover the Bunhill Fields Burial Ground, a Nonconformist burial ground and final resting place of John Bunyan, Isaac Watts, Daniel Defoe, and William Blake, along with many other leading intellectuals, radicals, and clergymen from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. You will also visit The Metropolitan Tabernacle Baptist Church in London, an Independent Reformed Baptist church, which was the largest non-conformist church of its day in 1861. Dinner in central London at a traditional pub, where you can enjoy Fish & Chips, before returning to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in London. (B,D)

Stonehenge & Hampton Court Palace
This morning, leave London and discover the mysterious and iconic Stonehenge, holding over 4500 years of English history. Step back in time and explore this ancient engineering masterpiece. After Stonehenge, a visit to Hampton Court Palace, the home of Henry VIII, which played a significant role in the English Reformation. Here in 1604, James I commissioned the King James Version of the Bible during the Hampton Court Conference. In the Chapel Royal, you will hear how Henry VIII’s decision to allow the production of the Bible was influenced by his last wife, Catherine Parr. Evening at leisure. Time to perhaps visit one of London’s many world-renowned theatres or restaurants. Overnight in London. (B)

Oxford and Blenheim Palace
Oxford has a rich Reformation history. During a walking tour of the city, you will visit Christ Church College, where Charles and John Wesley were undergraduates. It was here that John Wesley gathered around him a group of serious-minded young men, known as The Holy Club, nicknamed the “Methodists,” and so began an evangelical revival. View the spot where the early English reformer John Wycliffe came to translate the first Bible into the vernacular of the day and the place where the intellectual whirlwind unleashed Wycliffe’s teachings, which led to the trial and burning of bishops Hugh Latimer, Nicholas Ridley, and Thomas Cranmer. Also, see the very pub where 20th-century secularism was challenged by CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien. After some free time for lunch, a short drive will take you to Blenheim Palace, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture at the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. Blenheim Palace boasts a distinguished heritage to match its imposing and elegant presence. It is cherished as the birthplace of the ‘Greatest Briton’, Sir Winston Churchill. Built in the early 18th century, it is universally admired for its stunning design and spectacular gardens. Return to London in the early evening. Overnight in London. (B)

London to Edinburgh
Drive to Kings Cross station in London for a 4-hour train journey to Edinburgh. Upon arrival in Edinburgh, visit The Palace of Holyrood House, the King's official residence and the home of Scottish royal history, before transferring to your hotel. This evening, enjoy dinner with a Scottish flavor. Dinner and overnight in Edinburgh. (B,D)

Edinburgh
A full day of sightseeing in Edinburgh focuses mainly on and around The Royal Mile, starting with a visit to Edinburgh Castle – with a history intertwined with the Scottish Reformation, particularly through its role as a royal residence and military stronghold. Later, you will visit Greyfriars Kirk and graveyard - which played a significant role in the Scottish Reformation and its aftermath. Initially built on the site of a pre-Reformation Franciscan monastery, it became the first post-Reformation church in Edinburgh, completed in 1620. You will also see Victoria Street, a picturesque and winding cobblestone lane and one of the city’s most iconic thoroughfares, before visiting St Giles Cathedral. St Giles was originally a Catholic church, however it became Protestant in 1560 with the appointment of John Knox as minister, marking a significant shift in Scotland's religious landscape. Glasgow & Loch Lomond
This morning, a short drive to Glasgow. The Scottish Reformation, culminating in 1560, significantly impacted Glasgow, leading to the transformation of Glasgow Cathedral from a Catholic to a Protestant place of worship. The Cathedral is the oldest cathedral in mainland Scotland, and also the oldest building in Glasgow. It is one of Scotland’s most magnificent medieval buildings, and while stripped of its Catholic ornamentation and altars, it is the only cathedral on the Scottish mainland to survive the Reformation of 1560 intact and not ‘un-roofed’. After visiting Glasgow Cathedral, you will continue on a scenic drive to Loch Lomond with its breathtaking scenery. After enjoying lunch in one of the many villages around the Loch, time to enjoy a relaxing boat trip on the Loch itself, with live commentary with tales from the loch and insights into its history and geology. Return to Edinburgh in the late afternoon. Overnight in Edinburgh. (B,L)

Day at Leisure or Daytrip to St. Andrews
Enjoy a day at leisure in Edinburgh or drive to St. Andrews, the birthplace of the sport of golf and an important sight of the Scottish Reformation. Before leaving Edinburgh, you will stop by the College of Divinity (New College) to see the famous bronze John Knox Monument and a tribute to the Reformation. You will then drive to St. Andrews. Protestantism became Scotland’s main religion in part due to committed preachers like George Wishart and John Knox, who actively recruited and enthused the most influential and powerful sections of Scottish society to the Protestant cause. Knox, like many others, had been exposed to the Reformation and grew to support this new theology, as opposed to the traditional Catholic foundations of Scotland’s religion. Patrick Hamilton, a fellow St. Andrews reformer and Protestant martyr, and George Wishart, a priest who fled to Scotland in 1538 to escape accusations of heresy, both inspired Knox’s conversion to Protestantism. The three men became close friends. Today, you will visit St Andrews Cathedral and Cemetery, Holy Trinity Church which is sometimes referred to as the Cradle of the Reformation in Scotland, and Martyr’s Monument, built to commemorate four men who were executed in St Andrews during the 16th Century Scottish Reformation. You will return to Edinburgh in the late afternoon. Farewell dinner with a delightful evening of traditional Scottish song and dance and authentic Scottish cuisine. Overnight in Edinburgh. (B,D)

Tour information
GROUND/TRANSFERS: The group will be met on arrival by a Signature Tours representative and transferred to the hotel/airport. Land Only travelers not traveling with the group are responsible for scheduling ground transfers.
HOTELS: Superior first-class hotels throughout. Priced based on two people per room with a private bath and shower.
SINGLE SUPPLEMENT: A limited number of single rooms are available at additional supplement prices. Signature Tours and/or the tour leader will make every attempt to pair single travelers requesting a roommate. However, the single supplement fee will be charged for each person occupying a single room, whether by choice or circumstance.
MEALS: Breakfast provided daily. Lunch and dinner provided on days as noted in the itinerary.
SIGHTSEEING: Entrance fees to all places listed in the itinerary are included, as well as an expert English-speaking guide.
LUGGAGE: Space is limited on the tour buses. Travelers are allowed one suitcase weighing 50lbs or less and will be transported in storage under the bus. Travelers are allowed one backpack/daypack or personal bag to carry on the bus during the tour. These requirements will meet most airline carrier restrictions. See the carrier website for airline-specific baggage restrictions and requirements. Medical devices are not included in these restrictions.
TIPS, SERVICE CHARGES, AND TAXES: Tips, service charges, and taxes ARE INCLUDED in the selling price. Taxes or fees imposed by national and/or local governments that are not included at the time of publication are the traveler’s responsibility.
NOT INCLUDED: Country-specific visas or ETAs, excess baggage fees, passport fees, food or drink items not listed on the regular table menu for included meals, and items of a personal nature such as room service, laundry, etc. Any service not indicated in the itinerary and/or the list of included features.
PASSPORTS: Passports must be valid with an expiration date of at least six months beyond the return home date of the tour. Travelers with non-US passports are responsible for country-specific entry requirements.
AIR: The Air Included option covers round-trip, economy-class airfare from the departure city listed in the itinerary. All group seating is assigned by the airline and cannot be changed by Signature Tours. Seat changes can only be made during check-in at the airport. Upgrades such as Comfort, Premium, Business, or First Class are not available with the Air Included option. Travelers who wish to upgrade or purchase a specific seat should choose the Land Only option when registering. Frequent flyer, TSA Precheck, and Global Entry numbers can only be added at check-in.
LAND ONLY: Travelers who wish to arrange their own air should choose the Land Only option. Travelers arranging their own air should notify Signature Tours at least 6 months prior to the departure date. Land Only Passengers arriving with or before the group are welcome to join the transfer bus at no additional charge.
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: This tour requires a substantial amount of walking. Many of the sites are not accessible by wheelchair, and the uneven terrain is not feasible for rollators or scooters. Signature Tours reserves the right to refuse individuals who may require special attention beyond what the tour guide and tour host can provide.

A preexisting medical condition waiver is available if purchased within 21 days of registration.
CANCELLATION POLICY: The $500 per person deposit is nonrefundable. Other payments exceeding the $500 per person are refundable in full up to 180 days prior to departure. After this date, refunds for unused accommodations and services will be limited to the amount received from and/or credited by all carriers, sightseeing operators, and hotels. All funds, including the deposit, are non-transferable.
